In the beginning

It is Thanksgiving, 2009. I have much to be thankful for - family, cultural inheritances - and I still love my country, but feel strongly that my country increasingly has difficulty loving itself. What but self hatred could lead the United States of America to impose increasing and well known pollutants upon the planet and its atmosphere? What but self hatred would allow us to continue tolerating our national bipartisan political hack culture election after election? What but self hatred could lead the United States of America to dominate increasingly incoherent military adventurism abroad year after year while our national integrity suffers along with every fallen soldier and his or her family, along with our imploding national political-economy, and along with international order? I love politics, yet find little in our current politics-international, national, state, or local, to love. I elected to create this blog to bring attention to what is lovable about politics, citizenship, statesmanship, and public nobility in general. I will actively recruit select political thinkers to join this blog. I will also continue to interest my neighbors in taking the Declaration of Independence to heart, to help create a revised Declaration of Independence to lead the nation into national rebirth. Yes, I know this is far-fetched. So? Can we achieve any worthy goal if we do not aim high?
